The air compressor is the main equipment for producing air source power, and it is one of the essential equipment in industrial production activities. The compressed air produced by air compressors has a wide variety of industrial applications, but no matter what the application, the gas must be kept dry and clean. Untreated compressed air is known to contain various forms of contaminants, among them water. So, why is there water in the compressed air produced by the air compressor?
1. Water in the air
Air is a mixture of many gases. Its constant components are oxygen, nitrogen, and noble gases, and its variable components are carbon dioxide and water vapor. After the air is compressed, it will become supersaturated, and the water in the air will precipitate and become a liquid. The moisture content in compressed air is related to the humidity of the air. If the environment in the air compressor room is too humid, or due to seasonal reasons, the moisture content in the air will exceed.
2. Compression produces water
When the air compressor is working, the temperature of the main engine is very high, and the moisture in the air sucked will form water vapor during the operation of the air compressor, which will be discharged with the compressed air.
Compressed air containing water will accelerate the wear of the valves in the air compressor pipeline and cause the failure of pneumatic control equipment. In winter, there is still the risk of the air compressor pipeline bursting due to water accumulation and freezing. Therefore, the vast majority of air compressor users have equipped air compressor post-processing equipment (such as: air compressor dryer, compressed air refrigeration dryer, compressed air filter, etc.) to solve the problem of water content in compressed air.
